A Story of Hidden Family Truths

Some stories announce themselves with spectacle. Others begin with a quiet, lingering question: What do we really know about the people we love?

Old Man explores that question through the relationship between Jason and Frank, an older father whose advanced age makes him stand out from every other parent in the neighborhood. When ten-year-old Jason becomes the target of whispered playground taunts, a hidden photo album opens the door to an ambiguous history. Who was Frank before settling into this quiet suburban home? And why did he vanish into the skies for so long? Under the cover of night, the glossy surface of an ordinary life begins to peel away as Frank recounts an obscure past defined by solo flight, isolation, and an elusive woman whose departure altered everything.

Written by Lortir Pierre-Louis, triBBBal Studios’ Old Man is an evocative, tension-laced exploration of identity and hidden truths. The film builds an intricate puzzle around an aging patriarch, leaving Jason to wonder whether the man sitting across the kitchen table is someone he truly knows or a stranger shaped by a vanished lifetime.

The short film’s strength lies in its intimate scale. Rather than relying on grand spectacle, Old Man zeroes in on a living room, a faded family album, a difficult conversation, and the fragile moments that can irrevocably change how two people see one another. Its central conflict reflects a truth many families know: the painful gulf between how a parent is perceived by the outside world and who they truly are at home.

Ultimately, the story showcases the type of emotionally grounded storytelling central to triBBBal Studios’ creative vision. As the studio expands its slate of original projects, Old Man delivers a quieter, more intimate cinematic promise.
